On the 1st of July, the NATO SFA COE held a meeting with the Program Coordinator of the NATO field school of the Department of Political Science of the Simon Fraser University (SFU) in Burnaby (Canada).
The NATO Field School and Simulation Program is an intensive political science experience that combines coursework with experiential learning. Students from NATO member states take part in expert briefings across Canada and Europe, immerse themselves in the working environment, and engage in simulations, policy negotiations, and military and political decision-making at the strategic level.
The goals of the meeting were to explore future collaborations between the two organizations, finding common approaches in their activities and projects.
The discussion focused on Security, Diplomacy and Defence related to SFA activities with the aim to enlarge the NATO SFA COE network privileging young professionals, university students and researchers interested in Euro-Atlantic and international security policies.
NATO SFA COE Director, Col Massimo Di Pietro, made it clear that the COE is available for mutual participation in seminars, events and workshops and to provide dedicated briefing on NATO SFA doctrine and case studies to the SFU students during their next NATO field school tour to Italy. Finally, he emphasized the training and learning activities of the COE both in presence and online, open also for non-military attendees.
This meeting, as well as the other collaborations with Academia, Universities and International Organizations, represents the strength of the NATO SFA COE that is always committed to increasing its effectiveness and the quality of its projects and products in the SFA domain.
