On the 21st of November, the NATO Security Force Assistance Centre of Excellence (NATO SFA COE) hosted its 2nd Steering Committee meeting of 2024 in Rome.

Among the participants, in addition to representatives from the COE’s Nations, Albania, Austria, Italy and Slovenia, the Military Attaché of Canada and United Kingdom accepted the Director’s invitation to take part in the event as observers.

The meeting started with an update on the Centre’s Programme of Work 2024 and the presentation of new projects for 2025, along with the Budget financial plan.

Moreover, among other important topics, the Steering Committee addressed:

  • the development of a new project aimed at delving into specific topics related to Human Security, Security Sector Reform and Stabilization missions involving the whole Community of interest;
  • a new Analysis Report focused on a cultural examination expected to explore the significance of cultural differences in the daily work of Advisors, considering how significant could be their impact on mission achievement;
  • increased level of NATO SFA COE’ commitment to supporting NATO in all its main work strands.

The Steering Committee successfully concluded with the approval of all activities and projects in the Programme of Work and the 2025 financial plan, renewing the commitment of the Sponsoring Nations and the Contributing Participant to the development of the SFA domain.
