The second edition of the 2024 SFA Operators Course took place from the 23rd to the 27th of September.

The aim of the course is to improve the competency and effectiveness of SFA operators working in current and future missions and security related capacity-building.

This “NATO Selected” course fulfils NATO performance gaps identified within Military Contribution to Peace Support Discipline throughout the System Approach to Training process and represents a suitable training solution aligned with related discipline performance statements.

After the welcome from the Course Director, who highlighted the instrumental relevance of enhancing the competencies of SFA Operators, participants actively faced team-building activities designed to stimulate interaction and enhance knowledge of each other, allowing them to dynamically engage in group activities and role-playing.

During the role play, attendees have concretely played as Advisors by successfully interacting with a local counterpart through an interpreter, applying the notions discussed during the lessons.

On the other hand, among the theoretical activities, participants learned how to map stakeholders in an area of operation, visualizing the local context and linking different actors. They also employed effective negotiating techniques by using an effective communication and a specific influence methodology.

In conclusion, this course was a great opportunity for the participants to boost their practical understanding through the application of SFA methodology and to improve competency and effectiveness of SFA operators by working as part of a complex operating environment through a comprehensive and integrated approach.
