Slovenia Statehood Day, also known as Day of Slovenian Sovereignty (in Slovenian language Dan Državnosti), celebrates the declaration of Slovenia’s independence from Yugoslavia. On 25th of June 1991, the “Basic Constitutional Charter on Independence and Autonomy” and the “Declaration of Independence” of the Republic of Slovenia was adopted as a constitutional act. The following day, on 26th of June, independence was publically proclaimed in the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana.
Slovenia Statehood Day is celebrated annually on 25th of June. Statehood Day is considered to be the most important holiday in Slovenia and the country’s National Holiday.
